What you’ll do
We’re looking for a Credit Strategy Specialist to design, implement, and optimize credit strategies that directly impact growth, risk, and customer experience. This role sits at the intersection of data, risk, and business, owning key levers such as credit policies, limit‑setting frameworks, and decision rules. Our responsibilities include: Own credit strategy design: Define and evolve underwriting policies, approval criteria, and limit‑setting frameworks. Translate data into decisions: Leverage analytics and model outputs to drive actionable credit rules. Optimize portfolio performance: Balance approval rates, revenue, and loss rates through continuous strategy iteration. Design decision frameworks: Build and refine rules for acquisition, line increases, and ongoing exposure management. Monitor and react to performance: Track key metrics (approval rate, NPLs, utilization, vintage curves) and adjust strategies accordingly. Drive experimentation: Run A/B tests and controlled rollouts to improve credit outcomes. Improve processes: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in underwriting and decisioning workflows using tools like N8N for automation where applicable. Collaborate cross‑functionally: Work with Product, Data, and Growth teams to align credit strategy with business goals, utilizing Metabase or Databricks for data visualization and analysis. We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement. Must haves
3+ years of experience in credit risk, strategy, or analytics within financial services or fintech. Strong understanding of credit risk fundamentals (underwriting, exposure, loss drivers, portfolio dynamics). Proven experience in credit policy design and implementation. Advanced SQL skills and strong data intuition. Experience working with large datasets and analytical tools like Databricks. Working proficiency in English and Portuguese. Experience or interest in AI tools to automate workflows. Adaptability to fast‑changing environments and excellent verbal and written communication. Nice to haves
Experience in B2B lending, corporate cards, or fintech environments. Exposure to Latin American markets and their specific data limitations. Familiarity with decision engines or rule‑based systems. Independent analytical skills using Python. A good sense of humor. Why join Clara
