Scope of Position

We are seeking a skilled Consulting Engineer to help customers plan, design, and implement Cisco solutions. In this role, you will act as a trusted advisor, working closely with customer operations and internal Cisco teams to deliver innovative, secure, and efficient IT infrastructures. As a resident engineer in Rome, you will play a key role in Data Center and ACI projects, supporting both design and troubleshooting efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technology Design & Implementation
  • Lead design, configuration, and optimization of Cisco solutions to accelerate customer outcomes.
  • Support presales activities by translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Customer Engagement
  • Work daily with customer operations to deliver consulting and technical support.
  • Build simulations and test environments to validate complex issues and compatibility challenges.
  • Project Delivery
  • Create High-Level Designs, Low-Level Designs, and Implementation/Change Management Plans.
  • Collaborate with Cisco account teams, partners, and internal resources to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Problem Resolution & Knowledge Sharing
  • Act as the first point of contact for resolving complex customer issues.
  • Capture and share lessons learned, contributing to new methodologies and best practices.
  • Deliver documentation, training, and knowledge transfers to customers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong switching and routing expertise, including scripting for Cisco devices.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ACI and Nexus platforms (configuration and troubleshooting).
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science (or equivalent) with 3–6 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of CCNA/CCDP certification; CCNP/CCDP strongly preferred.
  • Proven secondary expertise in at least one of the following: Automation, Security, or AI.
