Your Role

As a Junior Consultant, you will work alongside Partners, Senior Consultants and peers to offer Transaction Advisory Services to financial institutions and infrastructure operators. You will support projects that deliver technical, operational and business‑plan evaluations of proposed investments, and help capture technical, commercial and economic drivers of infrastructure private‑finance deals.

Responsibilities

  • Assist on projects that provide technical, operational and business‑plan evaluations of proposed infrastructure investments.
  • Coordinate typical project deliverables such as Q&A submissions, management sessions, client meetings and report delivery.
  • Evaluate technical, operational, commercial and economic aspects of infrastructure and energy assets, including asset condition, performance, Opex/Capex, management and operating concepts, and business plans.
  • Identify, assess and clearly present transaction‑relevant risks and opportunities, including deal breakers, value‑creation potential, integration and optimisation approaches.
  • Work effectively across technical communities within ERM and subcontractors identified as SMEs to support project delivery and client interaction.
  • Deliver proposals, including company profile, scopes of work, scheduling and commercial terms.
  • Complete internal development tasks to improve the functionality of ERM’s infrastructure M&A service line.

Essential Qualifications

  • Solid academic background with an engineering bias (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering).
  • Early‑career (graduate or internship) technical consulting and/or engineering experience within the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Technical skills: ability to read and understand technical documentation, identify potential risks and opportunities, and assess asset integrity, operational performance, management systems and business plans.
  • Excellent organisational skills, self‑motivation, self‑sufficiency and the ability to work successfully in a fast‑turnaround team environment.
  • Ability to promote and execute quality work and ensure high standards by yourself and the team.
  • Strong communication skills and report‑writing proficiency.
  • Interest in the intersection between sustainability and infrastructure solutions.
  • Excellent written and spoken skills in the local language (native) and in English.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in technical due diligence (preferred but not essential).
  • Interest in economics and finance, and/or experience with business plans.
  • Willingness to travel domestically for site visits, primarily within continental Europe.
  • Early‑career experience in managing client projects.
  • Prior experience in at least one of the following sectors: Renewables, Bioenergy, Waste & Circularity, Power, Heat & Water Networks, Fuels & Chemicals, Low‑Carbon Fleets & Transport, Buildings & Civil Infrastructure, Digital Infrastructure, Maritime.
  • Education or experience in EHS regulation or soil and groundwater risk assessment, to support the EHS Due Diligence team on an occasional basis.
  • Additional language proficiencies are desirable.
