About the Role
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. As a Data Center Construction Manager you will lead construction project management for new builds or capital projects of Amazon data centers, driving cost, schedule and quality while managing construction vendors and contractors. You will work on the electrical and mechanical systems of data center construction, serving as Amazon’s owner’s representative on site, collaborating with teams in Operations, Networking, Controls, Security, and Commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Construction project management and oversight, including project scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
- Direct interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and closeout.
- Conduct negotiations with contractors and evaluate bids/proposals.
- Create construction project scope and requests for proposals.
- Perform financial analysis of construction activities.
- Manage construction projects that increase resiliency of data centers.
- Conduct constructability reviews of electrical and mechanical designs for new or optimized data centers.
- Manage construction documents (submittals, RFIs, change orders, invoicing).
- Ensure construction project quality control and record/report key construction metrics.
- Lead troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis for equipment failures.
Required Qualifications
- Experience defining data‑center system‑level architecture, documenting performance and equipment requirements, and maintaining project documentation.
- Construction management experience on large, complex projects with mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) plants.
- Direct experience in design or construction of data centers or critical infrastructure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent engineering science with 5 years of relevant experience (or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE), LEED, or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) certification.
- Experience in Data‑Center Engineering Operations with deep understanding of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations (Life Safety, BOCA, NFPA, NEC, OSHA).
- Knowledge of electrical engineering principles (switchgear, UPS, transformers, circuit breakers).
Salary & Benefits
