Offer Description The ERC project PERSONAE explores how and why people use language technologies in everyday life, focusing on subjective tasks and how LLMs influence beliefs, perceptions, and access to information and advice. Through personal NLP, an approach centered on individual experiences, it will develop datasets, tasks, and user-driven methods that involve people in shaping safer, more trustworthy, and accessible technologies. The researcher will collect, clean, and curate multilingual and user-generated data; develop and evaluate NLP models, including transformers and LLMs, to study subjective language and individual perspectives; compare approaches across languages, contexts, and data settings; and conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of how linguistic, social, and contextual factors affect model behavior. The role combines technical work with broader research on multilingual, subjective, and human-centered NLP.
