As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and supporting the operations of Amazon owned data centers. You will support vendors, contractors, and other teams involved in the construction and commissioning of various systems.

Key Job Responsibilities
As the Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will provide testing and validation oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. This includes reviewing design documents and equipment submittals, leading Factory Witness Testing (FWT), and managing third‑party commissioning vendors in the performance of onsite pre‑functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. You will own your projects’ successes, resolve technical issues, and address schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite. You will lead multiple projects simultaneously, delivering data center capacity while maintaining budgets and reporting progress to the Regional Commissioning Manager.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning experience with electrical and mechanical systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or 5 years of relevant discipline work experience
- High technical competency in either mechanical or electrical or control systems used in critical infrastructures, with the ability to learn and be trained in the others
- Ability to review mechanical or electrical design documentation (drawings, specifications, vendor submittals, and sequences of operations) and provide feedback in accordance with Amazon standards
- Experience developing, reviewing, and executing commissioning documentation such as test plans, scripts and reports to ensure accuracy with design requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite—Word, Excel, Outlook—and advanced knowledge of SharePoint or similar
- Strong communication skills, detail oriented, highly organized, and able to work in high‑stress environments maintaining calm and respectful interaction with multiple teams
- Advanced knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls systems for critical infrastructures
- Ability to read and edit construction documents (design drawings, control diagrams, specifications, etc.)
- Experience developing and executing test procedures for mechanical or electrical systems/components based on design intent and approved equipment submittals
