About the team
We are looking for a Commercial Counsel to support Deliveroo’s business in Italy . The successful candidate will be based in Milan and will report into our Head of International legal based in Paris .
This is a great opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, supporting a rapidly growing business with a wide variety of legal and commercial issues.
What you’ll be doing
As part of the Legal team, you will play a key role in supporting Deliveroo’s operations in Italy.
Your responsibilities will include:
Commercial contracts : drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements.
Business partnering : acting as a trusted strategic advisor to our Italian business teams, including Operations, Marketing, and Commercial.
Marketing support : assisting the marketing team with online and offline campaigns, including drafting terms and conditions and ensuring compliance with consumer law.
Regulatory and compliance : monitoring regulatory developments and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.
Policy rollout : coordinating the implementation and update of legal terms, policies and product features in collaboration with the global legal team and other global functions.
Dispute management : handling consumer complaints, pre‑litigation matters, and commercial IP issues.
Process improvement : identifying and supporting process improvements within the Legal team to enhance efficiency and quality of service.
Training and knowledge sharing : providing training to business teams on key legal and compliance topics.
External counsel management: managing external legal advisors effectively, ensuring cost‑efficiency and high‑quality support.
Requirements
We are looking for someone who brings:
At least 3 years PQE , qualified in Italy and admitted to the bar (avvocato).
Experience in the commercial department of a leading law firm (secondment or prior in‑house experience is a plus).
Excellent legal and analytical skills , with strong business judgment and commercial acumen.
Fluency in English and Italian (both written and spoken).
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross‑functionally and build effective relationships.
A proactive and pragmatic mindset, with the ability to execute to deadlines and to work independently in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment .
The ability to remain calm under pressure, think quickly, and deliver sound legal advice with a touch of humour.
Curiosity, adaptability, and a willingness to “roll up your sleeves” to get things done.
