Job Overview

As a Colo Regional Engineer, you will drive Mechanical/Electrical Engineering services, construction and implementation of enterprise data centers that meet quality and performance levels across the globe. You will work directly with Design Engineering Stakeholders, Construction, Operations, and Commissioning teams regionally and globally, leading projects to fit out the data centers we support to meet ever‑evolving customer needs as we continue expanding our fleet to hyper‑scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review, and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design meets AWS expectations.
  • Act as resident engineer during new colo construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
  • Support operational issues with ad‑hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event support.
  • Provide technical support to design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions that add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
  • Support operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co‑location (colo) data center upgrades that improve availability and efficiency.
  • Interface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partners.
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
  • Initiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers, producing reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong technical problem‑solving skills.
  • Proficiency in engineering design and analysis.
  • Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities, including but not limited to data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Specialized experience in data center design and critical infrastructure.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with regional building codes and regulations.
  • Hands‑on experience with mission‑critical facility design and maintenance.
  • Proven track record as a resident engineer or design consultant.
