To demonstrate CVCU Culture and Values in preserving the Credit Union's assets by performing collection activities associated with various delinquent accounts. Reviews delinquent accounts, determines probable reasons for account status, and contacts clients to resolve the delinquencies. Utilizes various techniques, as circumstances indicate, to promptly collect on delinquent accounts. Ensures the organization's professional image is maintained.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

  • Follow up on delinquent accounts by telephone, personal contact, and correspondence to secure a satisfactory resolution to the repayment problem. Discuss possible financial arrangements, inform clients of potential legal actions, and suggest financial counseling to arrive at suitable payment arrangements. Continue to collect until the account becomes a write-off, bankruptcy, or repossession account. Make early contact with clients to collect and keep them informed of account status.
  • Utilize effective human relations skills and various forms of persuasion to present a positive company image in an already negative situation. Calm irate clients and answer questions and complaints relevant to department functions. Determine reasons for delinquencies and work toward permanent solutions. Minimize losses by early actions.
  • Utilize further appropriate collection methods if initial attempts do not secure required payment.
  • Recommend extensions and/or consolidations to loan officer for approval and posting.
  • Refer accounts to Collections Support Administrator for repossession or bankruptcy actions.
  • Recommend possible charge-offs.
  • Perform collections efforts in accordance with Company policies and procedures and ensure they are legally compliant.
