Role Overview

As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at SudGlobal, you will be the visionary technical leader responsible for shaping, building, and scaling our core technology platform. This critical role requires a deep understanding of lean startup principles and a relentless focus on validated learning and actionable metrics. You will drive the technological innovation that empowers Southern Italian startups, ensuring our digital tools effectively facilitate their language development, financial optimization, and connections with international investors. You will be instrumental in attracting and cultivating a world-class technical team, fostering a culture of excellence, discipline, and impactful contribution.

Key Responsibilities :

• Strategic & Visionary Technical Leadership : Define and articulate SudGlobal’s long-term technical roadmap, ensuring it is deeply aligned with our mission to empower Southern Italian startups for global markets . Identify and leverage cutting-edge technologies, including digitalization and AI (relevant for the future of the real estate sector and, by extension, broader industries in Italy, to enhance the effectiveness and engagement of our program offerings.
• Product Development & Innovation : Oversee the entire product lifecycle of SudGlobal’s app-supported platform, from design to deployment and continuous iteration. Champion lean startup methodologies , including the Build-Measure-Learn feedback loop , rapid prototyping, and Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development, to quickly gather validated learning and adapt the platform based on user needs.
• Technical Architecture & Scalability : Design and implement a robust, scalable, and secure technical architecture capable of supporting a growing user base and diverse functionalities, such as e-learning modules, financial assessment tools, and investor matching platforms. Ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness in technical operations, recognizing that profitability is crucial for sustained growth .
• Data & Analytics : Establish and manage the key metrics and dashboards necessary to track the objective effectiveness of SudGlobal’s programs, such as improvements in linguistic competence, success rates in securing funding, and tax reduction for client startups. Drive data-driven decision-making , prioritizing actionable metrics over mere "vanity metrics" to inform strategic pivots or perseverance.
• Team Leadership & Culture : Build, mentor, and inspire a world-class engineering and product team. Foster a culture of technical excellence, discipline, and intellectual honesty , ensuring that team members possess the "right kind of ambition"—focusing on the company’s mission over personal gain. Provide essential training to enhance productivity and skill development within the team.
• Cross-functional Collaboration & External Engagement : Collaborate closely with leads across all departments (e.g., language, finance, partnerships, marketing) to seamlessly integrate technology into all program aspects. Engage with external stakeholders, including the Keiretsu Forum, potential technology partners, and the broader tech community, to advance SudGlobal’s mission and identify strategic opportunities. Contribute to fundraising efforts by clearly articulating the technological vision and its contribution to the business's economic engine.

Qualifications :

• Proven experience as a CTO or senior technology leader, ideally within a startup or high-growth technology company.
• Strong background in software development, cloud architecture, and cross-platform app development.
• Deep practical experience with lean startup methodologies , agile development, and data-driven product management .
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage diverse engineering teams , focusing on talent development, retention, and fostering a positive, high-performance culture.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and engage effectively with the startup and investor communities.
• A genuine passion for empowering entrepreneurs and contributing to economic development.
• Experience with EdTech, FinTech, or investor relations platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with the Italian startup ecosystem or experience working with international teams is desirable.
