Cloud Engineer
Descrizione dell'offerta
The Global AI Factory in GOSP – Generali Operations Service Platform – is responsible for engineering and operating production-grade digital solutions that support the Group’s data, analytics, automation, and artificial intelligence initiatives. In particular:
- Re‑engineer prototypes and MVP solutions into production‑ready systems deployed on AWS cloud using modern software engineering and DevOps practices
- Design, build, and operate cloud‑based data pipelines, platform services, and AI‑driven applications; create standard tools and frameworks for our Platform as a Service (PaaS) offerings, enabling scalable and reusable solutions across the Group
- Apply development best practices such as testing, CI/CD, monitoring, and automation; ensure reliability, scalability, and maintainability of digital services and data products across the Group
We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to join the Global AI Factory and contribute to the Group Central Data Platform team. The successful candidate will bring strong software engineering fundamentals to design, build, and operate cloud‑based platform services and data infrastructure that power the Group’s analytics, AI, and dashboarding initiatives across multiple business domains and countries.
The successful hire will design, build, and operate reusable platform services, internal tools, and frameworks — automating deployment and operations while applying software engineering best practices to ensure the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of production systems.
This is an opportunity for a technically strong software engineer to take ownership of strategic cloud platform initiatives, contributing to the design and operation of data and AI infrastructure within the Group’s cloud environment.
The candidate will:
- Design and implement Python microservices and APIs, and use Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible) to provision and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Develop reusable tools and frameworks to automate deployment, monitoring, and operations of the team’s PaaS solutions, including CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI) and containerised workloads (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Own the observability and monitoring layer for platform services and data pipelines, ensuring production‑grade reliability
- Design and maintain data ingestion systems to process and harmonise data across layered architectures (Bronze, Silver, Gold), using AWS Glue, PySpark, and Redshift
- Contribute to the implementation of data models within the Group Central Data Platform and support the evolution of the Enterprise Data Model
- Define and enforce data quality validations and metadata standards across countries and business units
- Partner with data scientists, data analysts, architects, and local teams across countries to translate business requirements into scalable engineering outputs
Requirements
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; solid understanding of software engineering principles and system design
- At least 4 years of experience in cloud and software engineering roles, with proven hands‑on experience with Python for platform and backend development
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and data infrastructure including AWS Glue, Amazon Redshift, and AWS SageMaker; experience with layered data architectures (Bronze/Silver/Gold) is considered a plus
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible; solid experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, in particular GitLab CI
- Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes; good troubleshooting skills on network and security issues in cloud environments
- Basic understanding of MLOps methodology
- Fluent English is a minimum requirement
- Strong software engineering and problem‑solving mindset, with attention to data quality and system reliability
- Sound analytical skills with a structured and proactive approach to work
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
- Ability to operate effectively in international, multi‑country environments
The following qualifications will be considered a plus:
- Experience with fast programming languages such as Golang or Java
- Familiarity with Design Patterns and Agile software development methodologies
- Experience with advanced Kubernetes environments in production‑grade cloud scenarios
