Certification Engineer (Completion)
Reports to: QA/QC Manager
The Certification Engineer (Completion) is responsible for ensuring that all completion, well intervention, and associated oilfield operations comply with regulatory, industry, and contractual certification requirements. The role involves verifying that tools, equipment, materials, and procedures used during well completion activities meet international standards, local legislation, and company specifications. The position also provides technical assurance to stakeholders and supports safe, efficient, and compliant project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Certification & Compliance
• Ensure all completion - related equipment (tubulars, packers, valves, perforating systems, downhole tools, etc.) are certified in accordance with API, ISO, and relevant standards.
• Review and validate manufacturers’ certification documents, quality dossiers, and third - party inspection reports.
• Maintain a comprehensive Certification Register for completion operations.
• Verify that lifting equipment, pressure control equipment (BOP, lubricators, wireline units, coiled tubing units), and well services tools carry valid and traceable certification.
• Ensure compliance with local regulations, client specifications, and industry standards.
Technical Assurance
• Provide technical guidance on certification requirements during planning and execution of well completion programs.
• Liaise with completion engineers, well intervention engineers, and QA/QC teams to resolve certification - related issues.
• Review vendor and contractor documentation packages for conformity before equipment mobilization offshore/onshore.
• Support audits, inspections, and technical reviews related to certification.
Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare and issue Certification Dossiers for project handover.
• Maintain traceability records for all completion equipment and consumables.
• Support final well handover documentation to operations and regulatory bodies.
• Track and manage deviations, non - conformances (NCRs), and corrective actions related to certification.
Coordination & Interface
• Coordinate with Third Party Inspection Agencies (TPIs) and Certification Authorities as required.
• Interface with Well Completion, Drilling, HSE, and Procurement teams to ensure timely availability of certified equipment.
• Participate in project readiness reviews (FAT, SIT, pre - job audits).
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Petroleum, or related Engineering discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in oil & gas drilling/completion or QA/QC roles.
• Strong knowledge of completion equipment, well intervention tools, and API/ISO standards.
• Experience with third - party inspection and certification processes.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements in offshore and onshore oilfield operations.
• Competence in reviewing technical documents and preparing certification dossiers.
