About the role
The Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing the category strategy to increase sales and profitability, managing P&L, ensuring a steady flow of quality supply, and leading an international team of Experts. The role involves collaboration across departments and strategic planning aligned with company goals.
What you’ll do
- Oversee a significant category with high-level leadership engagement
- Develop long-term strategic plans in line with company strategy
- Analyze data on demand, supply, quality, and customer experience to foster growth
- Manage quarterly auction planning based on supply and demand cycles
- Own the category P&L
- Maintain quality management and curation standards
- Develop and lead an international team of Experts
- Align category proposition with Catawiki’s value proposition for buyers and sellers
- Ensure customer-centric approaches within the customer journey
- Build relationships with key sellers and buyers
- Coordinate with other departments to enhance collaboration
- Benchmark against competitors and stay informed on market trends
What you’ll bring to the role
- At least 10+ years of experience in Jewellery & Precious Stones fields
- 5-10 years of experience leading a category, with strategic and KPI translation skills
- Experience with supply & demand planning cycles
- Expertise in commercial procedures and negotiation strategies
- Proven leadership of large teams, including remote management
- Target-driven mindset with a focus on quality standards
- Knowledge of trade prices and quality assessment
- Experience with Customer Experience procedures
- Gemology Degree from a recognized institute (e.g., GIA, HRD, IGI), with FGA/DGA registration preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Where you'll be
This role can be based in The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Spain, France, or the UK, with a flexible work-from-home arrangement.
