Captain / Engineer – 30m Expedition MY (New Build)
Are you a captain / engineer looking to join a world‑cruising expedition vessel? Do you have a sound engineering background? An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced captain/engineer to join a private expedition MY in the tail end of the build. The vessel will be used for private trips only with a low guest number and a planned extensive cruising schedule across Europe, the US, Caribbean, South Pacific Islands, Australia circumnavigation & Micronesia. Build Phase starts February 2026 with launch scheduled for May 2026. The handover to the owner is scheduled for July with the plan to start cruising immediately for the remainder of the Mediterranean season.
Position Snapshot
- Couple‑friendly private cruising (usually 2 guests)
- Start: February 2026, Build Phase; Launching May 2026
- Salary: 10,000€ per month + 13th month (non‑rotation role)
- Vessel crew size: 4‑5
Responsibilities
- Work with the owner and the technical build manager to complete final touches before launch
- Oversee sea trials, paperwork, and vessel setup
- Coordinate handover to the owner scheduled for July
- Lead the vessel once cruising begins, ensuring safe operation and guest service
Ideal Candidate
- Master certificate with at least 200GT, preference for 500GT or greater
- Experience with new builds (advantageous)
- Flagship experience
- Highly personable and good communicator
- Excellent engineering knowledge
- Ability to commit to a travelling programme with no initial rotation
- Experience in the cruising grounds mentioned (Europe, US, Caribbean, South Pacific, Australia, Micronesia)
- Looking for a strong owner relationship/partnership (long‑term)
- Experience implementing vessel management software
