Live-Out Butler in Milan - Italian & English Fluency Essential
Travel to London Required (Approx. 3 Months Annually)
Start: Flexible | Competitive Salary DOE up to 65,000 - 75,000 euros
Hours: Typically Monday-Friday 11am-9pm (with breaks), alternating weekly with Monday-Saturday; days off during the week will be given in lieu of weekend work
We are assisting a UHNW client based in Milan, in their search for a highly experienced Butler to join their fully staffed private household. This is a live-out role, however initial assistance with accommodation can be provided for candidates relocating to Milan.
This is a long-standing, established role, replacing a valued member of the team who will provide a comprehensive handover for a few months.
The Role
You will act as the lynchpin between the Principals and the wider household team, ensuring the seamless delivery of all day-to-day operations. Key responsibilities include:
- Full wardrobe management: overseeing seasonal rotation, dry cleaning, laundry, pressing, garment care and shoe polishing
- Packing and unpacking for both short and long-haul travel
- Running daily errands and assisting with local shopping and provisioning
- Table setting and assisting with informal meal service
- Greeting guests and offering a warm, discreet welcome
- Ensuring stock levels of toiletries, medication, and household consumables are consistently maintained
- Supporting the housekeeping team and ensuring the home is presented to the highest standard at all times
- Making occasional restaurant and appointment bookings for the family
- Conduct routine house checks to ensure everything is operational, trouble shoot any issues and liaise and organise external contractors & tradespeople fix any maintenance issues
- Working closely with the wider household team: 3 housekeepers, 2 rota nannies (2 weeks on/off), a private chef, and 2 rotating security professionals.
Requirements
- Fluency in both Italian and English is essential
- You will be professionally presented, maintaining a standard uniform during working hours (alternative dress may be required for formal occasions or overseas travel)
- In-depth understanding of formal etiquette and protocol
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal skills with a discreet and calm manner
- Willingness to travel to London with the family (up to 3 months per year, often in one extended period)
- Ability to take time off when the family are travelling and to bank time in lieu for additional hours/days worked

- 2 principals, a 2-year-old daughter, and a new baby due in February

- Travel frequently, especially to London, and maintain a high standard of organisation and presentation throughout their home
