Business Unit Head Retail orchestrates the strategy and the relating deployment plans into the key channels for our Market in Italy, playing a pivotal role within the local Senior Leadership Team. This role leads the field-force teams dedicated to both the retail pharmacy and wholesaler channels as well as all marketing and other investments allocation according to the company’s differentiation plan across market segments.
BU Head Retail is accountable for defining a consistent and aligned positioning strategy across multiple functions, ensuring its uniform implementation throughout the organization, and guaranteeing a globally coherent positioning within the INN Italian market.
Your Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Lead strategic, cross-functional decisions for International and above-brand strategic initiatives, incl. partnerships, policy shaping, and for launched assets, will monitor and respond to major events and competitive landscape developments;
- Work closely with key markets, collaborating with the teams to define launch deliverables and a targeted customer experience (campaigns/content);
- Lead, manage and develop the overall performance of current and future product portfolio and deliver sales and profits within agreed budgets;
- Lead and develops a high-performing sales and marketing team and build effective and enduring business relationships with key customers/ stakeholders;
- Be responsible for the budget and financial performance of the unit;
- Ensure appropriate compliance against company policies and procedures.

What you’ll bring to the role
Essential Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years in a similar roles within pharmaceutical industry, ideally with a sound experience within Generics market and the retail pharmacy and wholesale segments.
- Proven track record of managing and scaling high-performing sales and profitability targets, through deep analytics and navigated financial acumen.
- Solid experience in project management: resource allocation, long-term BU strategy and planning, market access planning capability with effectiveness and impact sensitivity, market reputation analysis, KPIs setting and monitoring.
- Robust people management skills: Drive the performance and knowledge effectiveness, taking best care of development opportunities for the assigned team, safeguarding the D&I KPIs, feeding the talent pipeline and processes with sustainable succession plans, in full respect of company values, behaviors and Code of Ethics as well as all the other internal/external policies and regulations.
- Deep knowledge of the Italian pharmaceutical market, including distribution channels, competitor landscape, and regulatory environment.
- Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven innovative thinking, strategic vision and big picture understanding.
- Fluent in Italian and English (written and spoken).
- Willingness to run for an international career within Sandoz globally.
- University degree in Economics, Business Management or STEM.
