Although we are currently in the European and Asia markets, we see great opportunities to expand. We plan to grow the Everest International division and establish a local presence in more regions. To support this, we are seeking a Business Development Manager in Italy.

Role Purpose :

The primary goal of this role is to lead the development and execution of Everest International Insurance strategy in Italy.

Key Accountabilities :

Strategic

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a strategic plan aligned with Everest International and group objectives.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with brokers and clients, representing Everest at industry conferences and events.
  • Assess risk suitability considering cycle management, exposure, and profitability.
  • Build and lead an underwriting team to achieve strategic goals.
  • Manage P&L for Italy.
  • Influence and motivate others through ideas, encouragement, and insights.
  • Provide insurance solutions and risk management support for complex client needs.
  • Create a business and marketing plan to enhance brand and product awareness in the broker market, aligned with our European strategy.
  • Promote a culture of fair customer outcomes and represent the branch at the Product Oversight Group.
  • Operational

  • Oversee Italy operations in collaboration with the Head of Southern Europe.
  • Manage underwriting activities in Italy.
  • Ensure underwriters and claims handlers operate within delegated authorities.
  • Serve as the primary reviewer for the branch.
  • Manage expenses to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Prepare annual underwriting budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on underwriting results against plans.
  • Conduct periodic underwriting audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain effective risk management and governance frameworks.
  • Regularly review portfolio risks, ensure compliance with risk appetite, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Human Resources

  • Build a high-performing team aligned with strategic goals.
  • Manage performance and evaluate staff training needs.
  • Make remuneration recommendations.
  • Inform leadership and HR of HR issues, including disciplinary actions.

  • Professional Qualifications and Experience :

  • Degree holder, preferably with underwriting qualifications.
  • Significant experience leading underwriting functions in insurance, managing teams across locations.
  • Experience in international commercial underwriting.
  • Proven portfolio management in terms of profitability.
  • Current PCF or highly experienced CF role, meeting CBI Fitness & Probity standards.
  • Deep understanding of European regulatory environments and relationships with regulatory bodies.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
