Basic Function
This position supports and collaborates with its supervisor, the EMEAI Regional Lead Recover, and other C&LC functions in identifying, appraising, and implementing opportunities to support LyondellBasell’s medium-to-long term strategy for Circular & Low Carbon Solutions, focusing on feedstock, advanced sorting, and mechanical recycling growth in prioritized hubs. Responsibilities include generating business cases, value propositions, leading transaction processes, and executing activities during various implementation phases.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Develop a strong understanding of the regional plastic waste and mechanical recycling landscape, industry structure, market trends, and competitive dynamics.
- Regularly interface with Regional and Global C&LC Commercial Development, Chemical Recycling, and Strategy Teams, including participating in business strategy formulation.
- Identify, source, and evaluate internal or external opportunities for C&LC, including greenfield investments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and partnerships.
- Lead development of data-driven investment theses, business cases, and evaluation criteria for opportunity ranking and selection.
- Prepare and present documentation, reports, and approval requests to Senior Leadership.
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key stakeholders, fostering trust and shared growth visions.
- Lead the project team through the transaction process, including feasibility studies, financial modeling, deal negotiations, and drafting agreements such as MOU, LOI, JV agreements, and contracts.
- Support the establishment and startup phases of ventures, coordinating with stakeholders, legal teams, and government authorities as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5-year University Degree, preferably technical; an advanced degree such as an MBA is preferred.
- At least 15 years of experience in Business Development and Leadership within waste management, plastics recycling, chemical/process industries, investment banking, consulting, or related fields.
- Willingness to travel more than 25% and fluency in English.
