Role Overview
An international company in the energy sector is looking for a Business Developer with a strong commercial mindset to lead renewable energy project development in Italy. The focus is on wind, solar PV, and energy storage (BESS), with an emphasis on identifying and structuring new business opportunities from early-stage to financial close.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify & source new opportunities (greenfield, co-development, acquisitions, tenders) across the Italian renewables market
- Conduct market & stakeholder analysis to assess viability, risks, and commercial potential
- Develop and maintain a strong deal pipeline, including landowner agreements, permit tracking, and partner relations
- Structure and negotiate commercial agreements (PPAs, lease contracts, joint ventures, etc.)
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (engineering, permitting, legal, finance) to move projects forward
- Support investment case preparation and internal approvals with strong financial modeling
- Represent the company in meetings with regulators, partners, municipalities, and key energy stakeholders

What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in business development within the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, or BESS)
- Strong commercial skills and ability to lead negotiations and build partnerships
- Knowledge of Italian permitting, regulatory and grid connection frameworks
- Experience managing full project lifecycle or deal structuring in Italy
- University degree in Engineering, Economics, Law, or a related field
- Languages: Italian (native/fluent), English (fluent); Spanish or French is a plus
- Proactive, entrepreneurial spirit with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to travel within Italy and occasionally in Europe
