Job Title: Business Developer Platform: Ardonagh Italia Division / Department: Integration Geographical Location: Italy
Context for the Role: The Ardonagh Group is a diversified insurance distribution platform which ranks as a top 3 broker in the UK and a top 15 broker globally. It owns insurance broking and distribution businesses in the UK, Australia, the US, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Ireland.
Purpose of the role: We are looking for a Business Developer to identify, attract, and support the onboarding of high-value resources and to drive special projects that accelerate the Group's strategic growth. The role sits at the intersection of commercial development, talent scouting, and project management, and works closely with Top Management and with HR, Finance, Legal, and Operations.
Key responsibilities
- Scout and map the market to identify target professionals, brokers/agencies and partnership opportunities aligned with the Group's strategy.
- Build and maintain a qualified pipeline through proactive outreach, networking, and relationship management.
- Manage the full lifecycle of bringing new resources on board: first contact, qualification, negotiation support, structuring of the deal/agreement, onboarding, and integration.
- Lead and coordinate special projects (new initiatives, strategic partnerships, market entries), from feasibility to execution.
- Run preliminary commercial, financial, and cultural-fit assessments, and prepare business cases and proposals for management decision-making.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (HR, Finance, Legal, Operations) to ensure each opportunity is properly evaluated, structured, and executed.
- Maintain pipeline reporting and provide regular updates and KPIs to the leadership team.
Requirements
- Degree in Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Solid experience in business development, change management, or senior commercial roles — experience within insurance, broking, or financial services will be considered a strong plus.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior professionals and external stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset, comfortable working with business cases, financials, and structured assessments.
- Self-starter, able to manage multiple projects autonomously and operate with discretion on sensitive matters.
- Fluent Italian and English (written and spoken).
- Availability to travel.
