Position: Business Development Manager – Insurance & Reinsurance

We are building our Insurance & Reinsurance business unit and are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to lead commercial growth across the Italian market.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with leading insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and innovation teams, helping them leverage next-generation geospatial intelligence for underwriting, exposure management, climate risk, and portfolio optimization.
The successful candidate will play a strategic role in shaping and expanding MindEarth's insurance practice in Southern Europe.
Key responsibilities
Developing and maintaining commercial relationships within insurance and reinsurance groups and large brokerage firms.
Identify and originate new business opportunities within underwriting, pricing, risk management, innovation, and strategy departments.
Promote advanced analytics solutions addressing:
Natural catastrophe and climate risk assessment (Cat-Nat).
Property and real estate portfolio intelligence.
Mobility and automotive risk analytics.
Exposure management and portfolio optimization.
Emerging climate resilience and ESG-related use cases.
Structure enterprise-level commercial proposals and multi-year agreements.
Lead pilots, Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and strategic customer engagements.
Coordinate with technical, legal, and compliance teams throughout the sales lifecycle.
Contribute to the development of the Insurance vertical strategy and go-to-market initiatives.
Your profile
5+ years of experience in insurance, reinsurance, insurtech, analytics, or consulting sales.
Established network within the Italian insurance ecosystem is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of underwriting, pricing, claims, exposure management, or reinsurance processes.
Proven track record selling complex B2B solutions or data-driven services.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills with senior executives.
Operating with full professional fluency in English and Italian.
Nice to have
Experience with catastrophe risk modelling or portfolio analytics.
Exposure to geospatial intelligence, Earth Observation, or mobility data applications.
Familiarity with highly regulated industries and compliance-driven environments.
Experience managing long sales cycles and multi-stakeholder enterprise negotiations.
