Your opportunity
Information Technology Services is responsible for all computing hardware, operations, network infrastructure, and systems to support and enhance the School's core mission. Rotman students, faculty, and staff use up-to-date technologies to directly enhance learning, teaching, and research.
IT Services is divided into four functional groups: Customer Support, Technical Support, Systems Development, and Multimedia. All groups work together to deliver efficient, adaptable, and reliable IT services.
The Business Analyst will acquire information via Discovery Sessions with SMEs and/or end-users to create and document Business Process Maps (BPMs) relating to new software system requirements or enhancements to existing systems. The role also includes divisional data quality, data acquisition practices, and data entry standards, as well as collaborating in the launch, support, and maintenance of core operational data, reporting services, and business processes.
Your responsibilities will include
- Analyzing and documenting business requirements, ensuring the requirements document meets the needs of stakeholders and users
- Assessing needs and contributing to the development of business systems
- Researching, analyzing, and recommending potential changes to system features; effectively communicating the analysis results to stakeholders, technical staff, and management
- Writing complex specifications based on system requirements; writing test cases for user acceptance testing and leading user acceptance testing sessions
- Planning the implementation of new business system processes
- Training end-users on procedures and the use of supported IT systems
- Managing competing priorities to ensure focus and predictability of deliverables
- Keeping well-informed on current technologies, best practices, and industry standards
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or an acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience. A certificate in Business Process Management and/or Business Analysis are considered an asset
- Minimum five (5) years of experience working with business processes and/or business analysis on large‑scale software systems such as ERP or CRM
- Experience with business analysis management methodologies and techniques, including requirements analysis, flow charts, process modeling, process mapping, test design, and execution
- Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting reports to internal stakeholders and training users
- Functional knowledge and experience in relational and object database management system concepts and associated reporting tools
- Strong analytical skills, able to interpret business requirements and articulate them into models and concepts that plug into larger scope projects
- Strong communication skills, able to present requirements, concepts, and procedures; able to design and deliver training and support materials
- Self‑motivated and accomplished at working with minimal supervision, while still delivering quality output within a tight timeframe
