We are opening a Junior researcher position on our strategic research line: “Hyperspectral retinal imaging enhanced with Machine Learning”
The IIT D-Tails Jointlab is seeking a highly motivated individual for a research and development position. This role is ideal for recent Master's graduates in Physics (Optics, Condensed Matter, or Medical Physics) or Engineering (Biomedical, Electronics, or Nanoscience) with a strong interest in advanced optics and medical physics. The successful candidate will contribute to the research and development of novel optical devices for both microscopy and retinal imaging, with the ultimate goal of advancing diagnostic and research applications.
The research contract will be extended up to 4.5 years. The owning the Ph.D. title is a title of merit.
Qualification
We're looking for a highly motivated and creative individual to join our team. The successful candidate should have:
- A degree in Physics or Engineering.
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, Machine Learning, and R for data/image analysis and classification.
- Interest in optical design, medical imaging, and data analysis.
- A strong inclination for interdisciplinary research and a desire to collaborate with diverse experts.
Bonus points for experience with optical prototyping, camera systems, and laser/LED illumination.
Research activity
· Design and realization/testing of custom Hyperspectral ophthalmoscopic instrument for enhanced retinal aimed to the early diagnosis of neurodegenerative disease.
· Test and alignment of the hyperspectral optical modules.
· Design and optimization of Image analysis, segmentation, and classification algorithms.
· Test the instrument /protocol on human patients for the realization of a large hyperspectral retinal image Database .
· Enhance the classification efficiency of the instrument
· Preliminary research results:
Requirements
Master degree in Physics or Engineering with focus on optics, image enhancement, or clinical statistical analysis. Good English Level (written and oral). Fast Learning, deadlines management, communication skills, independence.
We offer:
Contract: 2 Years renewable up to 4.5 years. Stimulating carrier opportunities. Full time employment. Salary dependent on experience. Place of work: Roma.
