Job Description
Enfinity Global is seeking an experienced BESS Engineering Director to lead the engineering and technical function for battery energy storage systems across our global Storage pipeline. This newly created role owns the technical and engineering definition of our BESS assets end to end – from system architecture and technology selection through design, integration, and engineering oversight during construction and commissioning. The role is the engineering authority for BESS within the organization, setting design standards, defining system specifications, and providing the engineering basis for vendor evaluation and procurement. This is an engineering leadership position, not a commercial or business development role.
We are looking for a strong technical profile with solid experience in BESS technologies, vendor ecosystems, procurement structures, and price benchmarking. The ideal candidate will bring deep sector knowledge from a leading storage provider and the ability to align technical choices with commercial and operational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
System Engineering & Technology Selection
- Define the engineering and system architecture for BESS assets, evaluating and selecting technologies (cells, PCS, EMS, BoP) suitable for Enfinity's portfolio across various geographies and regulatory frameworks
- Establish design standards and engineering criteria for grid services, merchant storage, hybrid solar-storage, and utility‑scale deployments, ensuring sound system design across use cases
- Develop technical specifications, engineering requirements, and design documentation to guide procurement, EPC scope definition, and project execution
- Provide the engineering lead in support of Procurement on vendor selection and mid‑ to long‑term technical strategy, defining the technical requirements and ensuring solutions meet the project's engineering, performance, and sustainability requirements
- Engage major BESS vendors (e.g., Fluence, Wartsila, Sungrow, Tesla, Jinko, CATL, E-Storage) to assess technical capabilities, design maturity, performance, and engineering differentiation
- Lead the technical and engineering due diligence during procurement, including design review, performance modeling, warranty terms, degradation, and long‑term reliability metrics
- Advise on risk mitigation strategies regarding supplier quality and geopolitical exposure
Construction Phase Support
- Provide engineering oversight during the execution and construction of BESS hybrid and stand‑alone projects globally, ensuring compliance with the engineering design, safety standards, and project timelines. Coordinate with EPC contractors and engineers to resolve design and site-level challenges
- Conduct periodic inspections and quality assurance reviews during construction to identify deviations early. Support timely mitigation efforts and maintain documentation for commissioning readiness
Internal Collaboration & Thought Leadership
- Act as the engineering authority and technical reference point for BESS within the Storage Global team and across engineering, development, and procurement
- Define the engineering and technology roadmap to ensure robust, future‑proof system architecture across the portfolio
- Represent Enfinity Global externally in supplier discussions and sector forums as a trusted technical authority
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy Systems, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience, with a minimum of 5 years in BESS engineering and system design, ideally at a manufacturer, integrator, or EPC level
- Deep engineering knowledge of cell technologies, PCS and EMS architectures, balance of plant, and full system integration and design
- Experience supporting procurement processes with engineering input, vendor technical qualification, and design‑based evaluation
- Familiarity with business models driving BESS adoption across the U.S., EU, and Asia markets
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in a cross‑functional and multicultural setting
Benefits
- Private Health Insurance
- Paid Time Off
- Training & Development
- Performance Bonus
