Automotive Exterior Designer – Raffaello Research Center (RRC), Milan, Italy

The position will be part of our Raffaello Research Center (RRC), a research center committed to enhancing the quality of Huawei products by creating a strong design ecosystem. As a Car Designer at RRC, you will play an active role on the automotive design team, collaborating in a multidisciplinary, multicultural environment. You will work closely with experts in Product, User Experience, Brand, and Retail Design to shape the future of Huawei products and consumer experiences globally. The studio is located in Milan, Italy.

What will be your main responsibilities?

• Generate automotive exterior design projects at RRC, actively participating in all stages of the process to create competitive and successful solutions.
• Work from initial concepts through to production‑ready designs, ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
• Bring strong creative enthusiasm and attention to detail, focusing on refining design solutions and exploring innovative ideas.
• Communicate and present internally designed concepts effectively, ensuring a clear and consistent understanding.
• Develop a solid knowledge of the Chinese automotive market.
• Travel to China or other project‑related locations a few times per year to support projects, conduct benchmarking, and engage with the HQ design team.

What are the skills required for this position?

• A bachelor’s degree or higher in automotive design.
• At least 4 years of experience in design, gained within a top‑level agency or an in‑house design team.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D design techniques, including sketching and rendering.
• Advanced skills in Blender for 3D modeling and rendering.
• Willingness to follow up on clay models, both in small and full scale.
• Interest in and experience with AI tools to improve design quality and efficiency.
• A strong portfolio that demonstrates design solutions across different business sectors.
• Strong conceptual thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• A team player who can also work independently, with a positive and proactive attitude.
• Fluency in written and spoken English is required; knowledge of Chinese will be considered a plus.
• Ability to work in a multicultural and international environment.
