Role Overview
The Automation & Innovation Engineer plays a pivotal role in accelerating GEB’s digital transformation by designing and implementing smart automation solutions. This role focuses on leveraging Microsoft Power Platform (Power Automate, Power Apps), scripting languages, and other automation tools to streamline business processes, enhance data integration, and foster innovation. The Engineer collaborates with business units, data engineers, and IT teams to deliver scalable, secure, and impactful solutions aligned with GEB’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain automation workflows using Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, and other low-code platforms.
- Apply scripting skills (e.g., Python) to enhance automation capabilities and support advanced use cases.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Integrate automation tools with enterprise systems such as SharePoint, Outlook, Teams, SQL Server, and cloud services.
- Ensure automation solutions are secure, compliant, and aligned with internal governance standards.
- Document workflows, configurations, and dependencies for audit and operational continuity.
- Monitor and optimize performance of automation processes, ensuring reliability and scalability.
- Support innovation initiatives by evaluating and piloting emerging automation technologies.
- Work closely with data engineers to ensure seamless integration with data pipelines and warehouse environments.
- Provide training and support to business users on automation tools and best practices.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks reasonably aligned with the scope of this role, as required by evolving business needs.
Skills & Competences
- Proven experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Automate and Power Apps.
- Experience working with cloud services, APIs, and connectors.
- Solid scripting skills in Python and basic knowledge of SQL.
- Understanding of data engineering or data warehouse concepts is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with other automation tools (e.g., UiPath) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of workflow design, process mapping, and integration patterns.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions with a focus on usability and scalability.
- Strong documentation and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proactive mindset, high level of accountability, and ability to work independently.
- Team-oriented approach with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in automation, innovation, or digital transformation roles within an international environment.
- Certification in Microsoft Power Platform or other automation technologies is a plus.
- Experience in employee benefits, reinsurance, or financial services is an asset.
- Familiarity with data governance, compliance, and security best practices.
- Fluency in English; French or other languages are considered an asset.
- Bachelor and Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field.
