About Bending Spoons

At Bending Spoons, we’re striving to build one of the all‑time great companies. A company that serves a huge number of customers, where team members grow to their full potential, and which functions at unparalleled levels of effectiveness and efficiency. We create value for shareholders at an extraordinary rate while adhering to high ethical standards. Our strategy is to acquire a digital business with untapped potential and make it successful by leveraging our platform—expertise, technologies, data, brand, talent, and culture. We then invest proceeds to make the platform more powerful and acquire new businesses, combining investor focus on capital allocation with hands‑on operator support.

We offer a fast‑track program for future engineering leads: a world‑class group of problem‑solvers building technology of extraordinary quality and scale. Even if you haven’t held an engineering‑lead role before, a strong track record and excellent references are essential. After an intensive training period of six to twelve months, you may lead a business unit generating revenue in the tens of millions of dollars, with potential to grow to hundreds of millions.

A few examples of your responsibilities

  • Drive strategy. Develop and execute bold, data‑informed strategies that focus on unlocking new levels of value for the company.
  • Lead an outstanding team. Lead a high‑performing team of talented professionals, making tough decisions to uphold excellence when necessary.
  • Operate at the sharp end of the industry. Maintain a culture of greatness, matching the company’s ambition as a top employer in tech and finance.
  • Master your toolkit. Refine your expertise across diverse tech stacks—from monolithic to microservices, gRPC to REST, Kubernetes to Docker, Python to Rust—to understand their purpose and unleash their full potential.
  • Simplify relentlessly. Turn complexity into simplicity by optimizing CI/CD pipelines, writing maintainable code, and crafting minimalist architectures.

What we look for

  • Leadership. Several years of outstanding work experience in highly challenging environments, with demonstrated exceptional performance and outlier growth.
  • Drive. Extreme ambition, initiative, effort, and tenacity that match the intensity of your goals. Responsibility for your work and a high, rising bar.
  • Reasoning ability. Ability to solve complex problems from first principles, structure ideas sharply, resist biases, and focus on essential details.
  • Team spirit. Generosity, reliability, honesty, and transparency; support team ideas over personal ones and help teammates whenever needed.
  • Proficiency in English. Read, write, and speak proficiently in English.

What we offer

  • An exceptional opportunity for growth. We hire individuals of outstanding potential and place them in roles to thrive. Spooners in their 20s often lead products worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
  • Incredibly talented, entrepreneurial teams. Work in small, autonomous, result‑oriented teams alongside some of the brightest people in your field.
  • All these benefits. Flexible hours, remote working, unlimited learning and training support, top‑of‑the‑market health insurance, rich relocation package, generous parental support, and a yearly retreat to a stunning location.
  • Competitive pay and equity. Salaries in London range from £151,436 to £250,512, elsewhere in Europe €145,430 to €240,330, with potential to exceed ranges for exceptional capability. Permanent contracts offer discounted equity. Italy relocation may include a 50% tax cut.
