Overview:
Our client is one of the world’s largest alternative asset managers, overseeing $1 trillion+ in AUM across private equity, credit, real estate, and strategic capital strategies. The global credit platform exceeds $300 billion, with a rapidly expanding opportunistic and special situations strategy active across Europe and North America.
The Milan team plays a central role in sourcing and executing complex credit investments in Italy, including structured solutions, idiosyncratic financings, dislocations, rescue capital, hybrid credit/equity, and special situations.
The group operates with a lean deal team structure, giving Associates full exposure to investment origination, underwriting, and active portfolio value creation.
Key Responsibilities
Deal evaluation
- Assess special situations and opportunistic credit opportunities across Italian corporates, mid-market and large-cap.
- Perform detailed financial analysis, modelling, scenario testing, and credit structuring.
- Support due diligence across legal, commercial, operational and market workstreams.
Execution
- Participate in transaction underwriting and internal investment committee processes.
- Prepare investment memos, valuation outputs, risk analysis, returns modelling, and credit documentation reviews.
- Coordinate with advisors, lawyers, banks, and internal teams to drive deals from term sheet to close.
Portfolio work
- Monitor asset performance, covenant packages, liquidity, operational metrics, and restructuring scenarios.
- Support turnaround, capital structure optimisation, and event-driven value creation initiatives.
- Market & sourcing
- Build insights on Italian credit markets, dislocation pockets, stressed/distressed situations, and sector-specific catalysts.
- Contribute to sourcing efforts through network-building with banks, advisors, corporates, and intermediaries.
Candidate Profile
Experience
- 2–4 years in investment banking (leveraged finance, financial restructuring, special situations, M&A), credit funds, private debt, or advisory teams with strong exposure to complex financing.
- • Experience working on structured credit, distressed, opportunistic lending, hybrid capital, or complex corporate events is highly preferred.
Skills
- Excellent financial modelling and credit analysis capabilities (LBO, waterfall, restructuring scenarios, covenant modelling).
- Strong understanding of Italian corporate landscape, credit markets, and legal frameworks.
- Fluent Italian and excellent English required.
- High level of ownership, analytical precision, and ability to operate in a fast-paced, lean team environment.
