This role is part of Alvarez & Marsal’s Tax practice, supporting payroll due diligence and compensation & benefits for clients across various industries.

Responsibilities

• Supporting payroll due diligence activities in the context of extraordinary transactions (M&A, carve‑outs, corporate restructurings)
• Conducting analysis and review of employee payroll to ensure correct application of tax and social security legislation
• Assisting in managing social security requirements for international movements/global mobility, including bilateral social security treaties and totalisation agreements
• Supporting compensation & benefits matters, including analysing correct tax treatment and calculating taxable base for equity plans, stock options, long‑term incentive plans and fringe benefits
• Providing assistance to the team on global mobility payroll matters

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Economics, Law, or related disciplines
• Qualification or trainee status as Dottore Commercialista or Consulente del Lavoro
• At least 2–3 years of experience in a leading consulting firm (Big 4 or equivalent) or a prominent tax and legal practice
• Hands‑on experience in payroll due diligence and compensation & benefits
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, including employer obligations and labour‑law‑driven requirements
• Fluent English, with the ability to operate in international contexts and draft technical documentation
• A quick learner who is diligent, adaptable and willing to take on new challenges
