Associate Director / Director - Global Infrastructure and Project Finance Group (GIG) - IT

  • GIG is currently seeking an Associate Director / Director based out of our London / Madrid / Milan offices.

The Global Infrastructure and Project Finance Group (GIG) is responsible for credit ratings of companies and non-recourse project finance transactions mainly in transportation, energy, and social infrastructure sectors. GIG comprises around 80 analysts with backgrounds in project finance, structured credits, and corporate finance.

The portfolio includes public and private ratings across various transaction types, including project finance, corporate finance, and structured credits. Issuers include owners of airports, toll roads, ports, rail infrastructure, power plants, oil and gas facilities, renewable assets, or public-private partnerships. The team's output includes annual surveillance reviews, new ratings, and sector research reports published mainly through Fitch's website. Senior analysts regularly present to market participants at conferences and events.

Based in London, Madrid, or Milan, you will report to the EMEA Head of Transport Infrastructure. As one of the senior GIG representatives in the Fitch office, you will supervise junior GIG employees, some in direct report lines. You will have analytical responsibility for new and existing rating transactions primarily within the transport sector (e.g., ports, toll roads, airports), but may also include Energy and Alternative Infrastructure Assets. Additionally, you will contribute to research projects and lead outreach activities for the transport sector.

  • We'll Count on You To
    • Be the sector expert for EMEA on one of the transport sub-sectors.
    • Undertake credit ratings on new transactions as Primary or Secondary Analyst.
    • Conduct reviews of existing ratings.
    • Follow developments in rated transactions and the overall transport infrastructure sectors, assessing impacts and maintaining contact with related parties.
    • Present credits to internal rating committees.
    • Participate in rating committees for other transactions.
    • Prepare rating action and non-rating commentaries and reports for publication.
    • Represent Fitch in external meetings with bankers, issuers, and investors.
    • Contribute to internal discussions on sector-wide credit issues.
    • Lead the preparation of research reports and internal projects to enhance systems, modeling, and criteria.
    • Lead outreach activities, including research and presentations.
  • What You Need to Have
    • Ability to quickly identify key risk factors in transactions.
    • Extensive experience in analytical roles within credit rating agencies, financial services, investment management, or corporates in transport infrastructure.
    • Understanding of project finance and corporate structures.
    • Experience in infrastructure sectors.
    • Excellent Excel and financial modeling skills; proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
    • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present clear, concise opinions backed by robust analysis.
    • Fluency in English is required.
    • Flexibility, empathy, autonomy, and responsibility.
    • Initiative, problem-solving skills, and ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
    • An understanding of Fitch's regulatory environment.
