Assistant Golf Course Superintendent
Tenuta Toscana, situated in the breathtaking Tuscan countryside, is a flagship property featuring an exceptional golf course renowned for its natural beauty and championship-level conditions.
The Assistant Golf Course Superintendent will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to support all aspects of agronomic operations at Tenuta Toscana. This role is ideal for a motivated, detail-oriented professional eager to advance their career in a high-performance environment. The Assistant Superintendent will help ensure that all maintenance practices meet Tenuta Toscana’s world-class standards
Main duties and responsibilities
- Assist in daily supervision of turfgrass management, irrigation, pest control, and landscaping operations.
- Help implement agronomic programs designed to deliver premium playing conditions consistently.
- Lead and train maintenance staff under the guidance of the Superintendent to foster teamwork and skill development.
- Assist in equipment maintenance and scheduling of work crews to maximize productivity.
- Monitor course conditions and recommend adjustments to cultural practices and resource use.
- Participate in irrigation system management, ensuring efficiency and water conservation.
- Support preparation and maintenance for tournaments, special events, and seasonal projects.
- Maintain compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with the Superintendent, golf operations, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination
Requirements
- Degree or diploma in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in golf course maintenance, with some supervisory responsibilities preferred.
- Strong understanding of turfgrass science, irrigation systems, pest management, and equipment use.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative approach.
- Ability to work long hours in various weather conditions, including weekends and holidays during peak seasons.
- Proficiency in English required; knowledge of Italian is advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to relocate to Tuscan
