AWS Training & Certification is looking for a passionate, talented, and inventive Applied Scientist with a strong machine learning background to help build industry‑leading inference technology. We aim to provide delightful training experiences by pushing the envelope in multimodal LLMs and leveraging Amazon's unique expertise.

Key job responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development of AI systems for training and certification products.
  • Extend existing scientific techniques and invent new ones to address specific customer needs at the product level.
  • Work semi‑autonomously on challenging problems, collaborating closely with product and engineering leaders.
  • Maintain high standards while moving quickly, prioritizing rapid experimentation and responsible AI development to deliver measurable customer impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of building models for business‑application experience.
  • PhD or Master’s degree and at least 4 years of experience in CS, CE, ML or related field.
  • Experience in patents or publications at top‑tier peer‑reviewed conferences or journals.
  • Programming experience in Java, C++, Python or a related language.
  • Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, or high‑performance computing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using Unix/Linux.
  • Experience in professional software development.

Compensation

Base pay for this position ranges from $136,000 per year in our lowest geographic market to $223,400 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Additional compensation may include equity, sign‑on payments, and other benefits.
