Role Purpose
As an Application Reliability Engineer , your primary focus will be the stability, maintenance, and optimization of Vodafone Automotive's application ecosystem.
Please note: This is not a pure infrastructure management role (hardware, virtualization, or networking). We are looking for an Operations professional who uses advanced technical skills (Linux, SQL, Scripting) to analyze software behavior, resolve complex flow-related incidents, and improve release processes.
Key Accountabilities & Decision Ownership
- Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose application malfunctions by navigating Linux environments for log analysis and querying databases via SQL to identify anomalies in application flows.
- Application Continuity: Ensure maximum reliability of application platforms through constant monitoring and proactive maintenance.
- API & Integration Support: Verify and analyze communication flows between systems based on REST and SOAP protocols (JSON/XML).
- Observability & Dashboarding: Implement and manage application monitoring systems (e.g., Grafana) to maintain real-time visibility into the health of processes and transactions.
- Application Release Management: Support and optimize software release procedures, ensuring new updates are correctly integrated into the system.
- Performance Tuning: Collaborate with development teams to suggest improvements based on the analysis of logs and production environment performance.
Core Competencies, Knowledge, and Experience
- Linux for Analysis: Proficiency in Linux environments for process control, investigative log analysis, and technical checks.
- SQL Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of SQL to perform complex queries, data analysis, and consistency checks on application databases.
- API Protocols: Solid understanding of how APIs (REST/SOAP) and JSON/XML formats work for troubleshooting integrations.
- Programming/Scripting: Knowledge of at least one language (e.g., Python, Bash, Java) to automate repetitive tasks or create analysis tools.
- Background: Previous experience in Application Maintenance, Software Support (Tier 3) , or Technical Analysis roles.
