Application Engineering - Barlassina (MB), Italy
As an ODM WAAM Junior Specialist , you will join the On Demand Manufacturing (ODM) team, working on the development and industrialization of metal components through our WAAM CMT Vipra technology. You will play a hands‑on role across the entire additive manufacturing process: from slicing strategies and print paths, to machine setup and print execution, monitoring, process optimization, and collaboration with Application, R&D and Materials teams.
Few examples of responsibilities:
- Support the definition of WAAM slicing strategies and print paths for metal additive manufacturing projects
- Assist in WAAM CMT Vipra robotic system setup activities (plate installation, calibration, parameter configuration), monitoring printing processes
- Supervise builds, identify deviations and support corrective actions to ensure process stability
- Contribute to project KPI tracking and provide updates to the Project Manager on activity progress
- Participate in R&D testing activities, including experimental trials and Design of Experiments (DoE) on material qualification and basic material characterization
- Work with Post-Production to understand and improve finishing and machining strategies
- Contribute to documentation, process improvement initiatives and development of internal best practices
Ideal Background:
- Degree or Technical Diploma (ITS) in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical fields
- Basic knowledge of welding, additive manufacturing, or robotic systems. A short experience in a related field is a plus
- Hands‑on approach, high attention to detail, strong problem‑solving mindset
- Team‑oriented attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and production teams
- Basic understanding of material behaviors (e.g., steels, aluminum alloys) and manufacturing processes (Milling, lathe operations).
- Fluency in English and Italian is mandatory
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM tools or path planning for robotic systems.
- Experience with CMT or other arc welding technologies.
- Knowledge of process parameter selection and additive path optimization.
- Exposure to industrial additive manufacturing or advanced production environments.
