Senior engineer Exchange and SharePoint.

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Messaging & Collaboration Engineer to lead the design, management, optimization, and security of our enterprise messaging and collaboration platforms.

The role will be responsible for Microsoft Exchange Online, Exchange On-Premises, Mimecast email security solutions, and SharePoint (Online and/or On-Prem), ensuring high availability, performance, compliance, and business continuity.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical expertise with governance mindset, troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage complex hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

Messaging Platforms (Exchange Online & On-Prem)

• Design, administer, and optimize Exchange Online and Exchange On-Prem environments (hybrid scenarios included).
• Manage mail flow configuration, connectors, transport rules, and security policies.
• Handle migrations (mailboxes, public folders, hybrid transitions).
• Ensure high availability and disaster recovery configurations (DAG management).
• Performance monitoring, capacity planning, and proactive health checks.
• Manage Microsoft 365 messaging policies, retention, and compliance features.
• Troubleshoot complex mail flow and authentication issues (SPF, DKIM, DMARC).

Email Security (Mimecast)

• Administer and optimize Mimecast platform.
• Configure anti-spam, anti-phishing, impersonation protection, and DLP policies.
• Manage email continuity and archive features.
• Incident response support for email security threats.
• Reporting and KPI monitoring for security posture.

Collaboration Platforms (SharePoint Online / On-Prem)

• Administer and maintain SharePoint environments.
• Support site collections, permissions governance, and content lifecycle management.
• Ensure compliance, data retention, and access management.
• Participate in SharePoint migrations and modernization initiatives.
• Provide 3rd level support for collaboration-related issues.

Governance & Security

• Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Implement and maintain security best practices across messaging and collaboration platforms.
• Support audits and security assessments.
• Work closely with Cybersecurity teams.

Operational Excellence

• Provide L3 support and act as escalation point.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures.
• Drive automation initiatives (PowerShell scripting required).
• Coordinate with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams.
• Support major incidents and problem management activities.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience managing Exchange environments (Online and On-Prem).
• Strong knowledge of hybrid Exchange architecture.
• Hands-on experience with Mimecast administration.
• Solid experience with SharePoint Online (and optionally On-Prem).
• Advanced PowerShell scripting skills.
• Deep understanding of:
• Mail flow protocols (SMTP, TLS)
• Identity integration (Azure AD / Entra ID)
• SPF, DKIM, DMARC
• Experience with Microsoft 365 administration.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Nice to Have

• Microsoft certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Messaging Administrator, MS-102).
• Experience with Intune and Conditional Access.
• Knowledge of Teams and OneDrive governance.
• Experience in large enterprise environments (1000+ users).
• ITIL knowledge.
