Operations Assembly, Integration & Test Manager

Location: Northern Italy (Hybrid working)

Sector: Space / Aerospace Manufacturing

Type: Permanent

We’re supporting a fast-growing aerospace manufacturer that designs and builds small satellite platforms in-house. The business covers the full lifecycle, from design through assembly, integration, qualification, and operations.

They’re now hiring a Operations Assembly, Integration & Test (AIT) Manager to lead AIT activities for satellite platforms and subsystems. This role sits within Operations and has direct responsibility for planning, people, performance, and delivery.

The role

You’ll own AIT execution across multiple projects. You’ll lead a multidisciplinary team, manage cleanroom operations, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time, and to standard.

Key responsibilities

  • Planning and overseeing assembly, integration, and test activities
  • Coordinating resources, workloads, and schedules across AIT
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing technical teams
  • Defining and tracking KPIs to improve AIT performance
  • Ensuring compliance with quality systems and safety standards
  • Working closely with Engineering, Quality, and Program teams
  • Managing documentation, reporting, and traceability
  • Driving continuous improvement and operational excellence

What they’re looking for

  • Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years in assembly, integration, or test within a high‑tech environment
  • At least 2 years in a leadership or coordination role
  • Strong understanding of aerospace AIT processes and standards
  • Experience with ERP and MES systems
  • Confident people leader with a hands‑on mindset
  • Comfortable working under pressure and managing priorities
  • Fluent English

Technical background

  • AIT processes for aerospace systems
  • Lean manufacturing principles
  • KPI definition and performance tracking
  • ECSS, MIL, or NASA standards
  • Cross‑functional and multi‑disciplinary coordination

Nice to have

  • Experience with satellite platforms or space systems
  • Background in space or defence programmes
  • Familiarity with tools like Jira or Confluence
