AI Software Engineer

At Uni Systems, we are working towards turning digital visions into reality. We are continuously growing and we are looking for a professional AI Software Engineer to join our UniQue Ispra team.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with our customers in the public sector and you will be responsible for developing new business by identifying profitable opportunities, maintaining your client portfolio by building strong, long-lasting relationships, and monitoring the progress of the projects, with the aim to provide excellent client service and added value services.
What will you be bringing to the team?
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and Django
- Develop and integrate frontend components using JavaScript (React experience is a strong advantage)
- Build and integrate LLM-powered virtual assistants, extending their capabilities beyond plain text through additional modules and data sources
- Implement data pipelines and services that work with cartography, GIS, and Earth Observation data
- Manage and process open data formats related to geospatial and remote sensing datasets
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design system architecture and deliver high-quality software solutions
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability
- Participate in code reviews and follow best practices in software development
What do you need to succeed in this position?
- Excellent knowledge of Python, Django, and JavaScript
- Experience with LLMs, particularly for virtual assistants and advanced output generation
- Knowledge of cartography, GIS, Earth Observation data, and related open data formats
- Ability to integrate AI models with external systems and data sources
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good knowledge of English
Desirable
- Experience with React
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and API-based architectures
- Background in geospatial analytics or remote sensing applications
