About us

KIWI is not just a company, it's a revolution. Since 2019, we have been passionately committed to creating innovative solutions that improve people's lives, helping as many smokers as possible quit smoking. With our headquarters in Croatia and a rapidly expanding international presence, our goal is to become the reference brand in Europe and a global benchmark in the e-cigarette industry.

Our products combine cutting-edge design, innovative technology and a strong commitment to sustainability, proving that changing the world is possible, one step at a time.

KIWI is looking for an AI & ML Engineer to join its international team.

The role

The AI & ML Engineer will have a cross-functional mandate across the entire organization: auditing internal processes, identifying where automation and AI generate real value, and implementing concrete solutions — regardless of department. This is not an execution role. It is a role that requires the ability to ask the right questions, map repetitive workflows, propose where to intervene, and then build and deploy solutions that get adopted.

Work location: Buje, Croatia, at the company's HQ

Key Responsibilities

Process Audit & Prioritization

  • Map workflows across all departments — HR, operations, finance, marketing, product — to identify repetitive, low-value tasks suitable for automation
  • Define and maintain a prioritized backlog of AI and automation opportunities, ranked by effort and business impact
  • Translate operational inefficiencies into actionable technical briefs

AI Implementation & Automation

  • Design, build and deploy automation pipelines for HR and operations processes — onboarding, contract management, internal reporting
  • Integrate LLM APIs and AI-powered tools into real workflows across marketing, operations and product teams
  • Ensure solutions are robust, maintainable and actually used — adoption is the success metric, not deployment

Data & Consumer Intelligence

  • Build models and dashboards to analyze consumer data across four international markets — sales by channel, survey results, purchase behavior
  • Support the product and R&D team with data-driven insights to improve decision-making on portfolio and innovation
  • Develop automated reporting tools that replace manual data extraction and aggregation

AI Enablement & Team Training

  • Work side-by-side with non-technical teams to understand their needs and translate them into AI solutions they can use independently
  • Train and upskill colleagues on AI tools, creating lasting capability within the organization
  • Document and standardize implemented solutions to ensure continuity and scalability

Candidate Profile

  • 2–4 years of experience in ML, data science, or applied AI
  • Strong proficiency in Python and relevant ML frameworks (scikit-learn, PyTorch, or similar)
  • Hands-on experience with LLM APIs and prompt engineering
  • Comfortable working with messy, incomplete, real-world data
  • Able to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders
  • Execution-oriented — you ship, you don't just present
  • Experience with automation tools (n8n, Make, or similar) is a strong plus
  • Familiarity with BI tools (Metabase, Looker, Power BI) is a strong plus
  • Background in FMCG or consumer goods is a plus
  • Fluent in English; Italian or other European languages are a plus

What We Offer

  • Cross-functional mandate with visibility across all business areas
  • Real data from four international markets to build on
  • Dedicated budget for tools, APIs and experimentation
  • A dynamic, international environment with flat decision-making
  • Work location in Istria — high quality of life, competitive cost of living
  • Competitive compensation package, discussed based on profile
