AI / Machine Learning Engineer (Medical Imaging)

About the Role

At Intus.AI, we are redefining how surgeons plan and perform complex procedures through AI-powered 3D medical imaging. As an AI/ML Engineer, you will be at the core of our product Virtual Clone (ViC), building algorithms that transform medical scans into patient-specific 3D models to support surgical decision-making.

This role is perfect for someone who loves problem-solving, has strong foundations in software engineering, and is passionate about turning complex data into real-world clinical impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain machine learning models for medical image processing (CT, MRI).
  • Implement segmentation and radiomics pipelines, supporting the extraction of anatomical and pathological structures.
  • Interact closely with clinicians and surgeons to translate anatomical and procedural requirements into AI-driven features.
  • Use and adapt the main medical imaging segmentation tools (e.g., 3D Slicer, ITK-Snap, MITK) for research and prototyping.
  • Develop scalable data pipelines and ML infrastructure for training, validation, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with regulatory & quality teams to ensure compliance with medical device certification standards (MDR/FDA, ISO 13485, IEC 62304).
  • Contribute to research projects, clinical studies, and grant proposals, supporting scientific validation and dissemination.
  • Optimize model performance and monitor accuracy, robustness, and drift over time.
  • Stay up to date with the latest AI/ML and medical imaging trends, integrating relevant innovations into ViC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
  • Proven experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, MONAI).
  • Strong programming skills in Python (plus Git, Docker, Linux).
  • Solid knowledge of DICOM and image processing libraries (ITK, SimpleITK, OpenCV).
  • Familiarity with medical segmentation software (3D Slicer, ITK-Snap, MITK).
  • Good understanding of human anatomy and surgical workflows, with ability to collaborate with clinicians.
  • Experience in research projects and scientific publications is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.

What We Offer

  • Work on a pioneering product that directly impacts surgical safety and patient outcomes.
  • Join a fast-growing medtech startup with global ambitions.
  • Collaborative, mission-driven team uniting AI, medicine, and regulatory expertise.
  • Opportunity to contribute to scientific research, clinical validation, and publications.
  • Professional growth at the intersection of AI, anatomy, and certification-driven development.

The compensation package will be defined based on experience and skills. Senior profiles (5+ years of experience) the range is €35,000 – €43,000.
