Role Description As an AI Engineering Intern at Expecta, you will support the design, development, and testing of AI and data-driven solutions used by clients. On a day-to-day basis, you will assist in collecting, cleaning, and transforming data, implementing and evaluating machine learning models, and contributing to data pipelines from ETL to visualization. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and consultants to prototype features, document workflows, and improve model performance. You will also help maintain code quality, write basic unit tests, and participate in team discussions on solution design and optimization. This is an internship role, based on-site in Rome.
Foundational knowledge of programming and software development (e.g., Python, Java, or similar languages) and familiarity with version control tools such as Git.
Basic understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and model evaluation, with interest in applying them to real-world business problems.
Comfort working with data, including data cleaning, transformation, and analysis, and familiarity with databases or SQL is a plus.
Ability to interpret dashboards or visualizations and interest in tools or libraries for data visualization and reporting.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
Interest in AI, analytics, and business applications of data; prior academic or personal projects in these areas are advantageous.
