AI Engineer Manager – Technical Lead & Project Manager (TLPM) – Memoria™ Project
- Part-time, unpaid during the early phase
- Hybrid work model (remote and/or on-site in Milan, Doha – Qatar, or Boston)
- Travel and meeting expenses will be reimbursed upon approval
- An NDA must be signed
This position may evolve into AI Director, Chief MedTech Technology Officer, or Head of Cognitive Systems, depending on performance and project growth.

About the Role:
We are seeking an AI Engineer Manager to serve as Technical Lead & Project Manager (TLPM) for the Memoria™ Project , overseeing the full technological architecture of one of the institute’s flagship MedTech initiatives.
The TLPM will lead development of AI models, coordinate engineering workflows, and work closely with neuroscientists, clinicians, designers, and the CEO to build a cutting-edge neuro-assistive system.
This is a role for a highly skilled, autonomous technical leader capable of translating research goals into robust, scalable systems.
Responsibilities:
AI & Machine Learning Development
- Lead the creation of cognitive AI models, early-detection algorithms, and neural behavior mapping
- Develop and refine ML pipelines, dataset preparation, training, evaluation, and deployment
- Integrate LLMs, multimodal models, or hybrid architectures where relevant
- Ensure compliance with ethical AI, privacy (GDPR), and MedTech data handling
Software Architecture & Engineering
- Define backend system design (Python/Node.js/Go)
- Build or supervise API development, database flows, microservices, and real-time processing
- Coordinate cloud-based deployments on AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Supervise interoperability with wearable devices, sensors, and digital interfaces
Project Management & Leadership
- Lead project roadmap, technical milestones, and development planning
- Supervise software engineers, junior AI developers, and interns
- Collaborate with medical supervisors and external research partners
- Present technological progress to leadership, research boards, and potential investors
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in AI engineering, ML systems, or advanced software development
- Expertise in:
- Python (mandatory)
- TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn
- Scripting languages (Bash, PowerShell, or similar)
- Knowledge of cloud architectures (AWS/GCP/Azure)
- Proficiency in backend development (Node.js, Python, Go, or equivalent)
- Experience in digital health, neurotech, or MedTech systems is strongly preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication, and technical planning skills
- Master’s degree required; PhD preferred (AI, Data Science, Engineering, Neuroscience, or related fields)
- Fluent in English (Italian is a plus)
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in cognitive computing, brain mapping, or neuro-assistive technologies
- Experience with biomedical datasets, clinical workflows, or experimental protocols
- Familiarity with CE/MDR regulations for medical devices
- Strong interest in ethical AI, explainability, and patient-centered digital tools
- Ability to bridge research and engineering in fast-paced environments
