The Southern Wind Shipyard (SWS) Customer Care team is located in Genoa, Italy, to offer a seamless point of contact in one of the Mediterranean’s busiest yachting hubs.
With unique access to the original plans and records of every SWS yacht built so far, the Customer Care team offers a high quality service backed by SWS technical knowledge. Our Customer Care division looks after warranty works and after-sales assistance worldwide. Once Southern Wind yachts arrive from Cape Town, the Customer Care team welcomes their crews to the Mediterranean and supports them by supervising all warranty works necessary after a 7,000 mile maiden voyage. The Customer Care team tracks Southern Wind yachts as they sail around the world, helping crews with maintenance issues, supplying spare parts when necessary and giving timely and precise assistance wherever the yacht may be.
We’re seeking a qualified, and experienced After Sales Technician - Sails Systems & Deck Hardware expert. The chosen candidate will be in charge of the supervision, management and execution of any repairs or modifications to the yachts’ deck hardware, rigging, composite parts. He/she will be asked to perform inspections and repairs as well as provide installation support of new or revamped equipment. They will also assist in developing proposals and offers for upgrades and repairs along with implementation of tailored predictive and preventive maintenance programs. In this role the Sails System & Deck Hardware expert will also monitor, review and report on equipment performance and make recommendations for improvements.
Personal skills:
- Efficiency in Italian or French (nice to have, but not essential)
- Technical competence, sub-contractors coordination/management
- Strong commitment to providing superior customer service in conjunction with excellent communication skills on all levels
- Result-focused, well-organised, self-motivated person with excellent investigative skills
- A willingness to travel extensively to our global customers is a basic component of the position
- A passion for sailing
Professional skills and qualifications:
- 80% of the candidate’s experience should be in systems, including but not limited to: hydraulic systems, deck hardware, composite constructions, spars and rigging
- Degree in: Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or High School Technical Institute or vast experience as a professional crew member on board a sailing superyacht
