PRIMARY FUNCTION
Iveco's performance and simulations team is seeking an Active Safety Performance Engineer (Active Safety PE). The Active Safety PE is responsible for providing technical leadership for performance target definition and integration of a specific Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) function or set of functions (depending on the complexity and content of the function). This includes cross-functional coordination of defined work packages: performance targets, vehicle integration, and delivery of the function(s) from concept to production. The Active Safety PE ensures that the function is completed according to company targets, within the defined timeframe, following the applicable development process.
The Active Safety PE works with a cross-functional team (Brand, Benchmarking, Vehicle engineering, Chassis, Cabin, Powertrain and electronics department), reporting to the Perceived Performances Manager: coordination is key.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for Active Safety integration on the line up (e.g., pedestrian detection, blind spot recognition, adaptive cruise control, autonomous driving capability etc..). Overall responsibility for achieving timelines, content, and technical goals for all Active Safety systems.
- Target setting and agreement with brand and benchmarking dept. focusing on customer experience on top of homologation requirements; subjective and objective assessment
- Full control over integrated timing for all ECUs and critical system (e.g. Brakes, Steering…), matching and monitoring the release timeline in order to ensure the correct level of software features for performing the test plan
- Support product validation to ensure the system integration on the vehicle (mechanical and electrical requirements) and for tuning and validation on bench and road testing
- Supporting benchmarking and brand for target definition and performance requirements of the system
- Project management and evaluation reporting for responsible development models
- Analyze and report results of simulations and test data
- Recommend solutions for test failures and correlate with appropriate departments.
- Supervises and/or provides work direction to the function development team members and external partners (supplier management) by assigning and tracking the tasks for his/her function on a regular basis
- Ensures delivery of the committed function performance within the planned time and allocated resources
- Holds regular function development team meetings to determine progress and address any questions or challenges
- Coordinates and is accountable for the analysis and decomposition of function related requirements and standards
- Analyses and understands customer function requirements using requirements management tools and processes in acc. with defined RASIC chart
- Manages and negotiates customer requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations
- Develops function evaluation and performance criteria and metrics. Analyzes test results and data to ascertain performance meets requirements Reporting of Active Safety status.
- Transfer of experience / Lessons Learned within team.
REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will have the responsibility for Active Safety relevant development of the assigned item scope of work within the project (e.g. pedestrian detection, blind spot recognition, adaptive cruise control, autonomous driving capability). Overall responsibility for achieving timing, content, technical goals for all systems in the Active Safety domain. Project, timing and headcount plan development and management. Work collaboratively with the Electrical Team Leaders, Chief engineer and counterparts from other function groups.
- Good knowledge of automotive development process
- Work experience: > 3 years as Active Safety functional integration expert
Relevant required technical skills:
- Expert understanding of Active Safety systems and related aspects of electrical architectures, electrical packaging, and software development.
- Proven experience in Active Safety functional integration
- Understanding of vehicle structure, component integration, and simulation.
- Analytical skills to support preparation for prototype vehicles for testing
