Descrizione dell'offerta

Do you enjoy working with cutting‑edge technology that can impact the world?

Would you like to design power solutions for green hydrogen production, compression, and utilization within the energy & industrial market?

Join our Climate Technology Solutions Engineering team!

At Baker Hughes, our purpose is clear. We take energy forward making it safer, cleaner, and more efficient for people and the planet. Our Climate Technology Solutions team focuses on bringing innovative clean technology to the energy and industrial space to accelerate our energy transition journey.

Take ownership for the next generation of our energy technology.

You will participate in the whole process of product definition, from conceptual design to development and testing phases of new equipment for energy transition applications. The main development areas will involve the design and optimization of mechanical components, assemblies, and the overall mechanical integration of balance of plant (BoP) required by electrochemical cells and stacks to power solutions for green hydrogen production, compression, and utilization within the energy & industrial market.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the mechanical design calculation and validation of Balance of plant (BoP) for electrolyzer or electrochemical gas compression systems using cells and stacks; develop and integrate components and systems such as cooling devices, structures, fluid collectors, power distribution, etc.
  • Oversee mechanical and structural simulations of BoP equipment using multipurpose computational codes and 3D layout modeling.
  • Analyze system design features, including steady state, transient and off‑design behaviours, ensuring fulfillment of all requirements and system operability through computational simulations and relevant validation and verification methods.
  • Take accountability for technical documentation: create, review, and approve mechanical engineering deliverables such as overall stress analysis, handling and transportation, material characterization and structural resistance, along with relevant datasheets and component specifications, ensuring accessibility and serviceability of the overall system.
  • Ensure full compliance of system component design with project/program requirements, including safety and regulatory input.
  • Select system components, define specifications, support market research including component and vendor qualification; drive and influence configuration adoption.
  • Address manufacturability, operability and maintainability requirements of the systems considering a modularised and standardised approach.
  • Participate in main project milestone meetings during development phases and with customers.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering standards, design tools, templates and processes.
  • Communicate project/program progress and accomplishments to management.
  • Comply with quality and time‑schedule targets for both internal and external customers.
  • Ensure compliance with BH policies and values, IP preservation and HSE culture.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD degree in mechanical, energy, process and/or chemical/electrochemical engineering or an equivalent from an accredited university or college.
  • Knowledge of electrolyzer systems and balance of plant and its matching with the stack (Alkaline, PEM, AEM and/or SOEC).
  • Proven experience in BoP mechanical design execution, 3D modelling, drafting and providing technical guidance for execution of projects/programs within the hydrogen production industry/market.
  • Open to innovative ideas, ability to drive change and passion for new technologies.
  • Very good oral and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal and leadership skills. Fluency in English, written and verbally.

Work Arrangements

  • Occasionally remotely working from home or any other work location.
  • Flexible hours – flexing the times you work during the day to fit in everything and to work when you are most productive.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Contemporary work‑life balance policies and wellbeing activities.
  • Comprehensive private medical care options.
  • Life insurance and disability programmes.
  • Tailored financial programmes.
  • Additional elected or voluntary benefits.
